the aspect of wedding planning i've been looking forward to the most: cake tasting! somehow, i finagled our bakery in napa into overnighting a cake tasting . friday, my fiance and i will feast on a delicious assortment of cakes... roasted banana with vanilla scented cream cheese frosting? yes, please.

summer fridays are the best days for multiple reasons...

1. my office graciously shuts down at 1:00- need i say more?

2. a beautiful bounty of fresh, organic vegetables is delivered to my doorstep

this is the first year i've participated in a csa, and i couldn't be happier! i highly recommend the stonefield farms csa to anyone in central ohio... they provide a wonderful assortment of vegetables and they offer single shares for... singles. so far, i've received a variety of lettuces, the largest cucumbers and squashes i've ever seen, broccoli, blackberries, cabbage, sugar snap peas, green beans, and (my current favorite) beets! i used to rely on trader joe's roasted beets, but after tasting a freshly roasted beet, i will never touch the vacuum-packed variety again. stonefield farm's beets have an earthy sweetness that can't be found in cardboard box.

fit to be swaddled

i love a scarf. i have a propensity to feel chilled and i like the way a vibrant scarf can jeuge-up a lackluster outfit.

i was in vail, colorado a couple weeks ago and i stumbled upon a boutique that carried the most beautiful scarves. the brand is epice, and unfortunately, their internet availability is pretty limited.

the scarves are produced by danish textile designers bess neilsen and jan machenhauer in collaboration with weavers in india. in the boutique, the scarves were cotton/silk blends in bright stripes of varying widths.

just over 2 weeks until mad men returns... i'm planning a cocktail party with mad men-inspired fare: martinis, gimlets, shrimp cocktail, and jello salad. i cannot wait!

alas, every time i visit my favorite antique store, i scan the inventory for a pretty tray... but i haven't found what i'm looking for yet.

no luck with ebay either- there is one hermes offering (and although it would look lovely on a dresser) it's not what i'm looking for. the search continues...
