emerson made

i first learned of emerson made on another blog... the site fell off my radar until yesterday, when my future mother-in-law mentioned a ring pillow she saw on the morning news:

aren't these beautiful? i love the blue pillow, but i don't think i'm ready to entrust the engagement rings with my 3-year-old niece.

after exploring the site, i found a couple other treasures: this belt (the necklace isn't too shabby either).

and these custom napkins:

little boxes on the hillside

my neighborhood epitomizes suburbia. i live 10 minutes from a whole foods, there are 5 frozen yogurt shops within a 10 mile radius, and every single time i leave my house i'm greeted by someone walking a dog or a child riding a bike. i'm lucky to have wonderful, friendly neighbors... so it's no surprise they organize an annual labor day block party.
i was instructed to make a dessert for the shindig, so i asked dr. matt if he had a sweet preference (knowing exactly which treat he would request). these little bars are his favorite. it really comes as no surprise- in my experience, ina can do no wrong. these crumbly bars are very sweet and nostalgic... they take me back to my childhood- the days of eating crustless peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made by mom.

stop... you're making me blush.

this has been my tried and true cheek color for years; it's super natural-looking, easy to use, and can multi-task as a lip stain.

however, i'm a product junkie and i've been dying to try this since i first laid eyes on it. i just added it to my birthday wish list... review to follow.

a pretty nice little saturday.

is there anything better than waking up to a sunny, beautiful saturday? today i have big plans:
  • 7 mile run (check)
  • drop off clothes at my favorite consignment shop (to make room for new clothes)
  • a haircut
  • peruse my favorite antique store
  • hit up a craft store for materials to make a chic earring organizer... i'm thinking about finding a vintage frame and doing something like this.

  • investigate adhesives (i know this sounds wonky... but i need to make sure my beautiful vintage stamps are firmly attached to my invitations
  • find paint and fabric to transform a set of old wood chairs into something exciting.... i was inspired by emily:

  • hopefully fit in a little shopping
  • and lastly, dine al fresco with my fiance
have a wonderful saturday!

feeling fall.

i'm loving this little puff-shoulder number by chloe with a joseph striped t-shirt

luckily i scored a great blazer (on sale) at j. crew last season and this madewell saint james tee will fit the bill.

mother knows best.

a few months ago, on a visit to my mom and dad's house i made a great discovery in my mom's haircare drawer: naturia dry shampoo. i used it once and i was hooked. it has a nice light, unobtrusive scent, and the white powder that emanates from the aerosol container works miracles... it makes your hair look clean and adds some volume. luckily, my mother was generous enough to give me the can.

i ran out of naturia and headed to my favorite local beauty supply store to look for a replacement... i was disappointed to see they don't carry it but i decided to take a gamble on a new product: kenra platinum dry shampoo. this stuff is just okay- the scent is a little cloying and the residue the spray leaves behind does not feel as natural or clean as naturia.
